Overview
Gayo is a distinctive single-origin specialty coffee from Indonesia, known for its depth, warmth, and comforting complexity. Produced using the traditional wet-hulled method, this coffee delivers a classic Indonesian profile with smooth sweetness and balanced structure.
Origin & Terroir
Sourced from the Gayo Highlands of Aceh, this coffee is grown at around 1,800 meters above sea level. The region’s volcanic soils, cool mountain climate, and consistent rainfall create ideal conditions for developing rich body and layered flavors. Smallholder farming and traditional processing play a key role in its unique character.
Flavor Profile
In the cup, Gayo presents earthy and spicy aromatics, followed by notes of milk chocolate, caramel, and nuts. The body is medium, with a smooth, balanced mouthfeel and a mellow acidity that supports its rounded, satisfying finish.
Roast Philosophy
This coffee is roasted with a medium profile to emphasize its chocolatey sweetness and nutty depth while preserving balance and clarity. The roast is carefully managed to avoid heaviness, allowing the wet-hulled character to remain clean and approachable.
